Viña del Mar & Valparaíso Tour
Discover the contrasting coastal cities of Viña del Mar and Valaparaíso and get to know their stories and secrets. Even though they’re located right next to each other these cities couldn’t be more different. Valparaíso was Chile’s most important port for years and with this, the influx of European migrants that added a mix of culture and bohemia which has stuck to this day. Viña del Mar, on the other hand, is a clean, well-functioning, resort city full of high-rise apartments with divine sea views and a rugged wild coastline. See the contrasts between the two with our ultimate full-day tour.
After picking you up from your hotel we’ll head out of the city, through the gorgeous, wine-growing Casablanca Valley to the coast to Valparaíso. Here we’ll start the tour by visiting the Valparaíso home of Chile’s most important poet Pablo Neruda. You’ll have the chance to learn about his life, work and the house in which he lived in. After this, we’ll move onto exploring Plaza Sotomayor the historic heart of Valparaiso and Cerro Concepcion and Cerro Alegre, two hills fundamental to the bohemian vibe of the city. Here you’ll be able to see the unique funiculars, politically charged street art, fine European-inspired palaces, breath-taking sea views and UNESCO World Heritage Site spots. For lunch we’ll take you to a restaurant of your choice and if you’re unsure we’ll happily recommend you one.
After lunch, we’ll continue on to the city of Viña del Mar, where, during our sightseeing tour you’ll be able to see the rugged Chilean coastline, sea views and the city’s highlights; the flower clock and the city garden.
We’ll then head back to Santiago and drop you off at your hotel.
*Instead of going to Viña del Mar we can also offer a stop at a recommended vineyard in the Casablanca Valley after lunch. Here you’ll be able to learn all about Chile’s wine-growing traditions and find out how wine is made. Tours also include tastings, allowing you to sample some of the country’s best white wine.
